Our purpose is to teach Ashtanga yoga in a way that honors the lineage of Krishnamacharya and Shri K. Pattabhi Jois and meets each student individually – for the spiritual, mental and physical benefit of the community.

Our core values are:

to build open and honest relationships between teacher and student through direct and purposeful communication;

to teach from a place of personal integrity – to ensure alignment between our actions and our beliefs;

to foster a positive and peaceful community spirit;

– and to have as much fun as we possibly can with what we have.

We believe that the practice of yoga, carried on with patience and persistence, will bring to the practitioner both greater peace and a deeper sense of Self.  And we have faith that in our shala, through the teachings that we provide (just as they were provided to us), the spirit of each student will be enlivened, and his or her vitality increased.  Some of the ways that we have benefited from a daily practice include:

a clearer mind and an increased ability to pay attention;

physical and mental flexibility;

a lessening of our preoccupation with ourselves;

an acceptance of our bodies;

a lessening of aches and pains;

a diminishment of fears;

we’re less likely to blunt our senses;

we’re kinder;

and, our lives are more balanced.

Our aim is to provide guidance so that others may have the same, and to make the practice of Ashtanga yoga available to all who seek it.
